Faadhippolhu (Lhaviyani Atoll)

Lhaviyani Atoll is an administrative division of the Maldives. The Maalfilaafushi was relocated in the 1980s to relieve the insufficiency of land availability in Malé. Maafilaafushi island once served as the capital of the independent domain of Boduthiladhunmathi. With the help of Adhi Raja of Cannore, Mohamed Rannabadevri Thakuru attacked Malé and tried to takeover the domain of Ibrahim Kalaafaanu (Sultan Ibrahim III 1585-1609). They were unable to take control of the Malé capital, they escaped to Faadhippolhu where Mohamed Rannabadevri dominated the northern atolls of the Maldives until he was dethroned by Sultan Muhammed Imaduddin I (1620-1648)
