We booked Detroves travels for our round-trip through Sri Lanka. Everything was well organized and the crew was very friendly.
We were picked up from our hotel with a bus. Our first target was the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. We were able to see the elephants, which were given a home because lot of them were not able to survive in the freedom. For an extra dough you could feed the elephants with fruits. That was a nice option for taking pictures.
The next day we visited Sigiriya Rock Fortress. What a really nice insight. The Rock appears gorgeous at the end of the ways. The Rock is split in two areas. When you are not afraid of heights you are able to go up the stairs on top of the rock and have the best view of your life. It’s really stunning. We got lot of information from the past history of this special place by the Detroves clerk.
Next stop was the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple. It is really impressive as well. The Buddhas are all in separated caves. The walk to the caves shows you a great view about the beautiful landscape.
The market in Kandy is very interesting. After we had a look at the fresh spices, fruits and vegetables we were invited to a special cooking class. That was great fun. The women told us how to make a typically Sri Lankan food. Everyone who wanted to help her was very invited to help her out with the next step. It is so easy to cook Sri Lankan food when you know how it works. Together we had lunch with the self made food. A really great experience we enjoyed very much.
We drove by train to Ella. One of the most funniest little adventures. While we had a look at the landscape that turned from cities to discharged and back a few of us leaned out the train while another one took a picture. Arrived in Ella we hat leisure time. We sat in a very cosy bar with and enjoyed some good drinks and food while we listened to good music and dived into the Ella-nightlife.
Between a visit at a tea factory and a really nice walk through the national park to wolds end we did a safari at Yala National Park. A really nice adventure as well. Next to the many animals we had again a great view about the landscape. Its really magical and so beautiful.
During all our Trip trough Sri Lanke we felt very well with our guide. We got very much information about all our sightseeing stops and when there was one more question, our guide was never tired to give an answer. The trip was well organized and during the whole trip we felt very safe and welcome. Thank you for that gorgeous adventure.
