Day 01

Airport to Negombo
Day 01

Welcome at the airport & proceed to Negombo for check-in ( Standard check in time : 14.00 hrs) (15 KM / 0h 20 m)

Enjoy the afternoon on the beach. May be build sand castles.

Day 02

Negombo - Pinnawala - Sigiriya
Day 02

Early breakfast and visit the famous Negombo Fish Market.

Negombo Fish Market (Duration of visit : approx 30 – 45 minutes)

Negombo Fish Market is especially memorable since it’s right on the beach., fresh from fishing boats. Crowds of fishermen are seen untangling their fishing nets, playing with their kids, and stretching out miles of fish to dry in the sun on Negombo's shore.

Thereafter proceed to Millennium Elephant Foundation. (70 KM /2h 30 m)

Thereafter engage in an Elephant Walk experience program.

  • At least a 30 minute walk with an elephant around our grounds watching and observing the elephant whilst learning about Sri Lankan elephants
  • Bathing the same elephant in the river, with only your group without other tourists

Day 03

After breakfast climb Sigiriya rock fortress.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress (Duration of visit : approx 3 ½  – 4 Hours) 

Sigiriya Located a few hours’ drive from Colombo, Sigiriya is a magnificent rock fortress built in the 5th century A.D.  This majestic Citadel in the sky was the refuge of King Kasyapa and is world-renowned for its Mirror Wall’, which consists of poems and paragraphs carved by some of the thousands of visitors who visited the rock many years ago, and for its magnificent frescoes, similar to the Ajantha frescoes of India.

Thereafter enjoy a lunch with a Sri Lankan family where you will get the opportunity to taste various local dishes.

The children will get the oppurtunity to play with the children of the family.

Afterwards engage in a Village tour at Hiriwaduna.

Hiriwaduna Trek (Duration of visit : approx 2 ½  – 3 Hours) 

Trekking through the Hiriwaduna is an adventure that gets every nature lover excited. Ride a Bullock cart which is Sri Lanka’s old form of transport on an unpaved trail and get off to take a nature walk through a scrub jungle. If you come across a stream, you’ll have to wade through it knee deep and later cross a wider tributary on a kind farmer’s catamaran. He’ll take you to inspect the Chena Cultivation (Slash and burn agriculture)

Day 04

Sigiriya - Gal Oya

After breakfast proceed to Gal Oya. (150 KM / 4h 30 m)

Enjoy a lunch next to the river, waterfall or overlooking one of the park’s many breathtaking views. We can even provide a delicious picnic lunch prepared by our safari chef. The picnic is best coupled with the jeep safari. We recommend a 12:30pm start for a late lunch and a swim in the river if you wish to continue on with a jeep and walking safari.

Thereafter engage in a jeep ride into the forgotten Nilgala section of Gal Oya National Park. Once protected by ancient royalty for the abundant medicinal plants and endemic birdlife, the park’s unique ecosystem is home to herds of elephants, wild boar, four species of deer, jackals, sloth bears, marsh mugger crocodiles and an array of rare exotic birds. Our more intrepid guests can couple the drive with a safari on foot. Hike through the park with our expert naturalists and see wildlife up close while exploring hidden corners of the park.

Day 05

Gal Oya - Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, proceed Nuwara Eliya. (120 KM / 3h 30 m)

Afterwards engage in a tea plucking experience at Heritance Tea Factory. we will deck you out in local attire – saree for the ladies, sarong for the gentlemen – and provide you with a basket in which to collect your leaves. Then we will take you out to our organic tea fields and show you which leaves to pluck. You’ll find that it takes a bit of practice to make sure the leaves end up in your basket rather than on the floor!

Our professional tea pluckers will accompany you – you’ll be amazed at how efficiently and quickly they manage to fill their baskets by comparison. Luckily, we don’t expect you to produce the minimum 15kg a day that is their target! Then we return to the Heritance Mini Tea Factory, where our chief tea taster, Nadaraj, will inspect your efforts. He will reject any leaves that are unsuitable, so you must pay attention when picking, or all your efforts will be in vain! Nadaraj will take you on a tour of the Mini Tea Factory and explain the whole process, from the initial drying (withering) of the leaves, through rolling, fermenting and sifting, to produce the different types of tea.

Thereafter proceed to Grand Hotel and enjoy the High Tea served on tired stands which offers a delightful array  of snacks, cakes , fondue and wood fired Pizzas, all ready to be  washed down by a selection of single estate and blended Teas, is sure to make your afternoon a memorable one.

In the afternoon take a stroll around the Nuwara Eliya city on foot

Nuwara Eliya City (Duration of visit : approx 40 mins) 

Nuwara Eliya is also known as 'Little' England', was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create Nuwara Eliya into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club, with its hunting pictures, mounted hunting trophies and fish, and it's strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, race course etc., all remind you of 'England'

Day 06

Nuwara Eliya - Ella - Weerawila

After breakfast board train from Nanu Oya to Ella. (2nd Class) (65 KM / 2h 30 m)

Thereafter pick up from Train Station and proceed to Weerawila. (70 KM / 2h 0 m)

Early morning (06.00hrs) engage in a Fishing tour where you will catch your own fish with the help of the local fisherman. The breathtaking Weerawila lake awaits you as we invite you to join the local fishermen as they set out in their traditional canoes. Join them and catch your own breakfast! Then, bring the fresh catch ashore and let the fishermen make you a delicious, fresh breakfast that you can enjoy on the bund of the tank. While you wait, sit back and enjoy the surrounding, or do a bit of rod fishing. There are plenty of photo opportunities around you. So capture some memorable moments while you wait for the fish to cook.

Thereafter engage in a Lotus Painting session with your family.

In the afternoon if time permits engage in a Bike tour (Can be done next day morning as well) where you will get the opportunity seeing our local landscape on two wheels. Meandering roads lead you through lush paddy fields and shrub jungles. If you get tired or thirsty, take a break and have some fresh king coconut from a roadside boutique. You can even take a dip in the lake to cool off.

Weerawila - Udawalawe - South Coast

After breakfast proceed to Udawalawe and visit the Elephant Transit Home. (50 KM / 1h 30 m)

Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home (Duration of visit : approx 30 mins  – 40 mins)

The elephant babies have all the required facilities and luxuries at the Elephant Transit Home and they are provided with safe and sufficient food and water. The elephants roam around freely and they are able to obtain food by grazing in an undisturbed and natural environment. This normally happens during the daytime and the feeding program has being schedule in intervals of three hours commencing at 6:00 a.m. daily. In addition to this the elephants have their freedom to play as well as the required facilities are available at the Elephant Transit Home.

Thereafter procced to South Coast for beach stay (Beach extension rates provided seperately). (120 KM / 3h 30 m)
